On February 14, Brother Rodgers taught about idolatry. The text he started in was in John 21:15 “So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.”
He also read the scripture Luke 14:26 “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple”. He gave us the definition of what it meant. He made sure we didn’t take it the wrong way. It just simply meant that we must love them less. Always put God first.
He used some objects for examples of things we can place before God, and he placed them on the altar. At last when he was done placing them on the altar he went back and asked if we saw a Bible? It wasn’t placed on the altar implying that we must do other things but not have time for the word of God. There should always be a time for prayer and reading our Bible. Never be too busy for God. He wasn’t too busy to save us. We should always take the time to pray and let God know how much we love Him and thank Him for everything He has done for us. He first loved us and we should love Him in return.
